About Taking Care of Me
What is Taking Care of Me?
Taking Care of Me is an MCCSA program that delivers culturally adapted health information to culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities across South Australia.
The program was launched in February 2026, developed through a partnership between MCCSA and academic researchers at the University of Adelaide, with funding from the SA Department of Premier and Cabinet.
What makes it different?
Taking Care of Me was not developed by health professionals and handed to communities — it was built with them. MCCSA coordinated cultural adaptation across six CALD communities, with community representatives actively shaping how health information was framed, translated, and presented to reflect their lived experience.
This process was led by Ukash Ahmed at MCCSA, working alongside community representatives from each of the six groups.
Who developed it?

Academic partnership
The health content underpinning the program was developed with Professor Gary Wittert, Mortlock Professor of Medicine at the University of Adelaide and Director of the Freemasons Centre for Male Health and Wellbeing. Professor Wittert is a Senior Consultant Endocrinologist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and one of Australia’s foremost researchers in men’s health, metabolic health, and the relationship between lifestyle and chronic disease.
Sam Tafari contributed to the program’s development and content. Further details about Sam Tafari’s role and background are available from MCCSA.
Languages
Taking Care of Me was culturally adapted across six CALD communities. Translations of Linked Health Information into community languages are planned for a future release. The digital platform has been built to support this from day one.
